Hafod Eryri - Snowdon Summit update

Snowdon or rather Eryri - the abode of eagles - is the only summit in the Uk with a train station at the top. Quite common in Europe, the UK has only one real mountain railway running from Llanberis to the summit of the mountain.

Hooray! First snow of the year

Today snow fell on the high ground and down to 400m above sea level; although the ground is too warm for it to settle yet, it is lovely to see the tops dusted with white, even if it only lasted until the Sun came out

Near Disaster in the Lake District

News has come in this morning of the Original Mountain Marathon, which had to be abandoned around  mid-day on Saturday, due to excessively bad weather, stranding over 1700 of the competitors.
